Eyes on work!

Returning to work for many of us means back to long hours at desks in front of screens. If you’ve been on holidays, no doubt your eyes will have enjoyed the break!

As you get back into the swing of work, you may notice one or more of the common symptoms of a condition known as digital eye strain, affecting 65% of digital users. These include eye fatigue and discomfort, headaches, blurred vision, dry eye, and/or neck and shoulder pain.^

Associated with more than two hours of staring at digital screens, the good news is that you can take simple steps to reduce the strain:

  1. See us for a comprehensive eye exam – we’ll assess your digital vision needs and whether spectacle lens technology designed to combat digital eye strain symptoms would benefit you.
  2. Blink more often – it’s normal that we blink less frequently when staring at a screen. Blinking is important to moisten eyes and prevent dryness and irritation.
  3. Exercise your eyes – follow the 20-20-20 rule: look 20 feet (6m) into the distance for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.
  4. Take regular breaks away from your screen – go outside at lunchtime, your eyes will love you for it!
